In a nutshell, it is two sleeping surfaces (water mattresses) that go into one bed. There are two purposes. The first is the heat. Dual systems come with two heating systems thus each sleeper has the choice of his or her own personal preference. The second is that since there are two mattresses any movement on one side of the bed is not transferred over to the other side. 90% of couple choose a dual system.
